What is Early Language
Skill Development?
Every parent or caregiver knows that children develop at their own pace, especially when it comes to acquiring language and the ability to effectively communicate with others.
But if your child doesn’t have the innate skills needed to acquire language in the first place, they may struggle to reach the communication goals their peers achieve easily.
With our early language skill development sessions, we help children with a disability access their communication skills and enhance them according to their own individual needs.
With 20 years of experience in the disability industry, and as specialists in working with both children and adults with language delays or barriers to speech, you simply can’t go past our welcoming approach.
How Does it Work?
One of the most effective tools we have at our disposal when it comes to early language skill development is the Hanen: It Takes Two to Talk program. This evidence-based method of skill development:
helps parents and speech pathologists recognise what stage of early language skill development their child is at
allows parents, caregivers and practitioners the opportunity to identify what motivates their child to communicate
provides parents and speech pathologists with the tools to encourage children to communicate (and adjust routines as necessary)
helps parents and speech pathologists with skills they can use in play to enhance their child’s early language skill development
Our Intake Requirements:
Please note we only accept a limited number of referrals at a time, and prioritise those linked with the NDIS. We are passionate about providing services to individuals with complex communication needs (little or no speech) that may be associated with the following diagnoses and/or genetic conditions:
- Autism
- Cerebral Palsy
- CHARGE Syndrome
- Down Syndrome
- Developmental Delays
- Intellectual Impairment
- Rhett Syndrome
